Wilson transformers support Gatwick Airport EV charging stations
Wilson Power Solutions is continuously working towards delivering a sustainable future. We actively participate in green energy projects including electric vehicle charging points, energy storage systems or solar energy generation projects.
The latest project we worked on has just come to fruition in London. We have proudly built and delivered 2 x 2500kVA, 33000/415V and 2 x 3000kVA, 33000/615V Wilson e3 Ultra Low Loss Amorphous® Transformers to Gatwick airport EV charging stations.
Gatwick Airport is the first international airport in Europe to have its own dedicated electric vehicle charging station
Charging is now available at the London Gatwick Electric Forecourt® with the new retail building opened last week. It provides 30 electric vehicle chargers supplied by 100% net zero carbon energy and is pedestrian-friendly and fully accessible. The newest Electric Forecourt® with transformers from Wilson Power Solutions Ltd will help London Gatwick Airport on its journey to reach net zero by 2030, with 32.9 million passengers visiting in 2022.
To facilitate convenient EV charging for customers, Gatwick Electric Forecourt®, like all GRIDSERVE sites, is equipped with both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors. It accepts contactless payments and offers real-time status updates on widely used EV charging maps. These chargers operate on net zero carbon energy, aligning with GRIDSERVE’s commitment to combating climate change and promoting electric vehicle adoption.
Within the Electric Forecourt®, a dynamic EV experience zone is available for visitors to assess their readiness for electric vehicles and discover which EV best fits their needs. Similar to the offerings at Braintree Electric Forecourt® and Norwich Electric Forecourt®, visitors have the opportunity to take test drives in the latest electric vehicles.
Wilson e3 Ultra Low Loss Amorphous® Transformer offers the maximum savings well ahead of the European Tier 2 regulations. It is a tried and tested choice for sustainability-orientated projects as its purpose is not only to distribute energy but, also at the same time, to save energy, significantly cutting CO2 emissions and saving running costs.
Based on attractive total cost of ownership (TCO) calculations, an ever-increasing number of clients are installing the Wilson e3 Ultra Low Loss Amorphous® Transformers as part of longer-term infrastructure investments that can deliver returns of over £100,000 over the lifetime of the transformer.
