Impressive what 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 & 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 can do when given precise measurements to maximise resource efficiency. Here’s a a picture showing how the transformer was lifted into this “𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁” 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 before it gets to its permanent location in the basement where it’s given more space for operations and maintenance.

T𝗵𝗶𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝟯 𝗨𝗹𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 have successfully been delivered to the University of Glasgow. The project to supply the transformers was awarded to LABRON TECHNICAL LTD. who then selected Wilson e3 for this 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 to help the university in their 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 plans.

After months of discussions and payback calculations, the university made the decision to go for Ultra Low Loss transformers which go 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝟮 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 currently in place and offer 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 over their lifetime.

This project showcases 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝘁 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 across the higher education sector.

From our unique ultra low loss amorphous transformers to switchgear and battery trip units; we provide future-proof infrastructure assets that will keep Universities across the UK running smoothly for decades to come.

Warwick is one of the UK’s leading universities, with an acknowledged reputation for excellence in research and teaching, for innovation, and for links with business and industry.

Over the years, Wilson Power Solutions supplied 21 transformers to the University of Warwick, 16 of these were ultra and super low loss amorphous transformers in the following ratings; 500, 800, 1000, 1250, 1500, 1600 and 2000kVA. Upgrading to Wilson e2 and Wilson e3 meant that the university decided to install transformers that go beyond the Ecodesign specifications. Comparing the regulated industry-standard transformers and the Wilson lower loss transformers, the University of Warwick saves annually 213MWh. Over the lifetime of these transformers (30 years), they will have saved the university 6.4GWh of electricity, 1,480 tonnes of CO2 emissions and over a million pounds of financial savings.

University of East Anglia [UEA] is one of the UK’s top 15 Universities and part of the top 200 Universities globally.

Being a centre of excellence in environmental sciences and climate research, UEA launched a comprehensive energy and carbon reduction programme (ECRP) in 2015.

Since then, we have assisted in the improvement of their infrastructure by installing 3 of our Wilson E2 Transformers, helping them to save around £150,000 over their lifetime, contributing towards their £3.6 billion per-year utility bill.
